John “Leonard” McDaniel, was a 1955 graduate of Greene County Tech High School in Paragould, Arkansas. He graduated from Arkansas State University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. From 1959-1967 he taught Business Education at Greene County Tech in Paragould, Arkansas. In 1967 he started working at Arkansas State University as Registar. Leonard McDaniel became emeritus registar in 1996, when he retired after his twenty-nine (29) year career with Arkansas State Univeristy. In April of 2010 Leonard McDaniel was honored as one of the “Outstanding Staff” of Arkansas State University (ASU) for the First 100 Year celebration.
In 2018 Leonard McDaniel established the “Mary Lou McDaniel Master of Science In College Student Personnel Services Scholarship”, in memory of his wife.
Leonard McDaniel served on the Kays Foundation Board of Directors for seven (7) years from 2017 until December 31, 2024. .
