2023 — In March of 2023, the Kays Foundation established “The Kays Foundation Scarlet to Black Program for Financial Independence Endowment Fund” at Arkansas State University. The purpose of the Fund being to permanently endow the Scarlet to Black “S2B” program which was started and implemented on campus by Dr. Philip Tew, Director of Economic Education and Financial Literacy, Associate Professor of Finance. The program by Dr. Tew has operated successfully on the Arkansas State University campus to educate students, staff, and faculty on financial independence. The program is also acting as an outreach program to area school students to teach them about finances.

2022 — The Foundation awarded Andressa Augusto funds to modernize the Ecotoxicology Research Facility’s Culturing infrastructure with a plumbing upgrade and equipment renovation. This upgrade will allow several past, current and all future Ecotoxicology Research Facility and other Arkansas State students, staff, and faculty benefit, as they have been trained with the most current culturing system in the country and world. This grant also future proofed the Ecotoxicology Research Facility’s fish husbandry set up, ensuring many decades ahead of providing fish and state of the art facilities to students, faculty, staff, and visiting researchers. Arkansas State University is now a leader in the state and region due to the upgraded culturing system, and several tour members have expressed how impressed they are with the facilities.
2021 — Kays Foundation awarded Kelli Listenbee, Director of Learning Support Services a grant to aid in the completion of the “Academic Hub” center located on the third floor in the Dean B. Ellis Library. The academic hub is comprised of library and faculty resources along with three student-tutoring centers. It held its grand opening on Monday, October 3, 2022. 2021 — Kays Foundation provided funds to Jody Nutt, assistant professor of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences to acquire a 3-D Scanner for Medical Imaging. The images will be used in medical 3-D printing applications, such as the construction of organs and anatomic models to enhance student’s educational experience.
