THE KAYS FOUNDATION AWARDS THREE NEW GRANTS TO ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY FACULTY STAFF
The Kays Foundation Awarded $41,459.34 in the Spring 2024 Grant cycle. The board awarded Grants to Three Arkansas State University Faculty and Staff Members.
The first grant was awarded to Matthew Mayton, archivist, in the Dean B. Ellis Library. The grant was to digitize the oral history interviews that had been conducted and gathered from 1979 to 1995 by the Mid-South Center for Oral History. The digitized oral history archives of past faculty, staff, and area residents will be a great asset to future students and individuals interested in research. The grant award was $8,470.00.
The second grant proposal was awarded to Dr. Mohammad Alam, Associate Professor of Chemistry. He received funding in the amount of $9,215.08 for the proposal titled “Antibacterial characterization of pyrazole compounds to find novel antibiotics to treat drug-resistant bacterial infections.” The funds will be used to continue his research with both undergraduate and graduate STEM students, from underrepresented groups, working on relevant and innovative supporting research.
The third grant proposal was awarded to Dr. Sarah Webb, assistant research professor in Ecotoxicology, Beck College of Science and Mathematics for her grant proposal titled “Enhancing Environmental Research and Education through equipment upgrades at the Ecotoxicology Research Facility at Arkansas State University.” The grant amount awarded was $23,774.26.
