The Kays Foundation awarded $38,192.00 for the fall grant cycle. Grants were awarded to two Arkansas State University Faculty Members.
Dr. Stacy Walz, professor of Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) received the first grant in the amount of $10,892.00 for the proposal “Clinical Lab Science Boot Camp for Teachers” she will conduct a “Boot Camp” for area high school Science Teachers to showcase the work clinical laboratory scientists do. The goal is to provide recruitment materials and activities the teachers can use in their classrooms. Which will help prepare prospective students to the program.
Dr. Shivan Haran, associate professor of Mechanical Engineering received the second grant titled “Baja Vehicle Design with STEM Outreach” in the amount of $27,300.00. Arkansas State University students will demonstrate their abilities, designs, engineering and manufacturing skills of a vehicle to participate in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) annual collegiate design competion. A-State will compete in its third straight Baja competition.
