In Memory of Director — Richard “Rich” Carvell

Richard “Rich” Allen Carvell, was born in Brinkley, Arkansas on December 18, 1943. He earned a Bachelors degree at ASU in 1966. He served in the Air Force as Captain in Vietnam. After his service he completed a master’s degree at the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign in 1971. He served for thirty-seven years at Arkansas State University in positions ranging from professor of radio-television, station manager for KASU, and chair of the Department of Radio-TV in the College of Communications.

Rich served his community as well. He was on the Nettleton School Board, The NEA United Cerebral Palsy Board, The Arkansas Boys State Annual Conference, Disabled American Veterans, Cornerstone United Methodist Church, NEA Human Society and many others.

Rich Carvell served on the Kays Foundation Board of Directors from 2015 until 2025. He held two positions on the board. One as Secretary from 2018-2020 and then served as Vice President of the Board from 2020-2025.

Rich was an avid Red Wolf fan and proud Veteran

Richard “Rich” Carvell served the Kays Foundation for ten years until his passing on September 8, 2025
